Principal's Message

All of us here at San Jacinto Leadership Academy want to welcome you to the 2023- 2024 school year. As we continue to grow we are excited to have our first year of 11th grade cadets and can not wait to honor them as the graduating class of 2025. We love our returning cadets from every grade level and send a special welcome to our brand new 6th grade cadets and all other cadets new to our school. We want nothing more than for our cadets to have a wonderful experience as we instill in them our “4 C’s”, Character, Communication, Competence and Citizenship and expect that they will help guide you to a highly successful year. As one of SJUSD’s “Schools of choice”, we are excited to offer Advanced Placement courses for this year as we move into getting our IB certification for the 24-25 school year. Please start to make the school yours by involving yourself in all of our sports, clubs, and community opportunities that will help you grow into life long learners and productive citizens.

While you are on your path as Cadets, we hope that you view SJLA as a safe and welcoming place. We hope that each interaction with staff, you feel heard, respected, and valued. We want each and every cadet and family member to know that we are a campus that welcomes and supports you no matter what walk of life you come from. At SJLA we promote an atmosphere of inclusion while pushing every cadet to better themselves and their community. We all love working at a school that feels so much like family. Here at SJLA, we have a rich history and a bright future. We hope you are proud to call yourself a LION.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. once said “Intelligence plus character–that is the goal of true education”. We hope you feel this way when you reflect on the education here at SJLA. I am so honored to start my first year as your Principal and look forward to creating many memories that will last a lifetime.

Ductus Exemplo! Go Lions!

Have a great year!

Your Principal,

Lloyd L. Sheppard
